Denver’s Best Grilled Cheese Competition at Steve’s Snapping Dogs
As part of its Chow Down for Charity initiative, this City Park hot-dog hut is hosting a grilled-cheese sandwich-making competition from 1 PM to 3 PM. While local chef-contestants whip up their twists on the classic, your job is to judge them for the people’s choice prize - free of charge. (Any food you purchase in the meantime will be donated to nonprofit causes.)

Stock Show Steak Special at LoHi SteakBar
Starting tonight and through the next two weeks, this casual chophouse will offer up its 16-oz., bone-in New York strip steak with fries for $30 ($5 off the regular price) in celebration of the National Western Stock Show.

Burritothon at 730 South Bar & Grill
This weekend - and all the other weekends in January - Bonnie Brae neighborhood gathering spot 730 South is supplementing its regular brunch menu with an à la carte “burritothon.” Ten stuffed-tortilla specials ($11 each) include the 3 Little Pigs with bacon, ham, sausage and green chile and the Greek with gyros, feta, sundried tomatoes and tzatziki sauce.

Dine Out for Earth at Coohills
Join host Tom Coohill, Old Major’s Justin Brunson, Daniel Asher of Linger and Root Down, Fuel Cafe’s Bob Blair and others at this six-course feast and fundraiser for national environmental-advocacy group Rock the Earth. Drinks will be provided by Great Divide, Infinite Monkey Theorem and Roundhouse Spirits, while a DJ and a silent auction round out the evening (6 PM-9:30 PM; $85 per person in advance, $125 at the door if seats remain. Taste of the NFL Fundraiser at TAG Burger Bar
Catch the Broncos-Chargers game at Troy Guard’s Congress Park burger joint (pictured), get your fill of booze and bar bites, and help raise money for the Food Bank of the Rockies in one fell swoop. From kickoff through the final play, a $25 entry fee includes wings, beer and specialty cocktails like the Orange Crush and the Mile High Martini - all you can stomach, with the caveat that the bar reserves the right to cut off those who over-imbibe (so behave).

Test Kitchen at 1515 Restaurant
Tonight, the theme of this LoDo longtimer’s monthly Test Kitchen dinner is “Mediterranean influence.” Centered on molecular techniques, the six-course meal (including an amuse bouche) kicks off at 5 PM, and will feature crispy branzino with variations of farro, and sous-vide lamb sirloin with chorizo and chickpeas ($55, $95 with wine pairings).
