Food TV Update: Last Chance Kitchen Snags Emmy & More
Bravo's online companion series, Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen has snagged an Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media - Multiplatform Storytelling. According to the release, entries were evaulated by a panel of experts in the field. The series also is nominated for two awards to be announced at the Creative Arts ceremony on September 15: Outstanding Special Class - Short-Format Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Interactive Program.
In other TV news, Spike TV is rolling out a new series called Hungry Investors, starring chefs John Besh, former Top Cheftestant Tiffany Derry and Bar Rescue star and nightlife expert Jon Taffer. Some have compared the series to Restaurant: Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares. One notable difference in Hungry Investors: this time, the restaurant has to earn the help of a professional investor. The three stars will seek out and help “diamond in the rough” failing restaurants, then put two to the test in each episode to prove they deserve a second chance at success. The restaurant with the most promise will earn a major cash investement. The show will debut in spring 2014.
