Big news for Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian - the silver-haired toque is set to become culinary director of The Plaza Hotel, according to NY Times' Off the Menu. The chef plans to breathe new life into the legendary Palm Court and will eventually resurrect the now-closed Oak Room. Zakarian will also head up F&B for Oak Bar, Rose Club and room service. Zakarian tells the Times: “I want to leave as much as we can in place, the way they do with the great old restaurants in Paris." Expect changes to Palm Court first which he hopes to revitalize by early 2014. [NYT]
