We made a mistake and we're not afraid to admit it. Somehow, the Clark Cooper Concepts' Punk's Simple Southern Food was not included in our 2014 Preview. (We'll blame it on the holiday fog induced by Champagne and sugar cookies.)

In any case, we're happy to report that Punk's is set to open sometime in mid-to-late February in Rice Village, right next door to its sister Clark Cooper restaurant, Coppa Osteria. Come next month you can expect to find a spread similar to the one pictured above; Southern-inspired fare like rustic biscuits, fried catch-of-the-day, charred okra, butter bean succotash, housemade pimento cheese, deviled eggs and lots of oysters. That's not including Southern-grandma-style cooking in dishes like the smothered pork chop and buttermilk-fried chicken served family style (accompanied by honey butter cornbread). If chef Brandi Key is half as good at executing Southern food as she is Italian, February can't get here soon enough.
