Spring in the LA cocktail world means the end of winter citrus and the beginning of strawberries and rhubarb in the glass. Here are three must-try spots to sip some of the best of the season right now.
The Spare Room: There's more than bowling at the hidden gaming room at the Hollywood Roosevelt, and this month it comes via El Silencio mezcal, tequila, Curaenta Y Tres, citrus, egg white and club soda (the La Otra), or the Surrealistic Pillow made with vodka, aloe liqueur, red grapefruit and toasted coconut. Either make fine companions for a rousing game of Connect Four or Monopoly.
Pitfire Pizza: Spring has sprung at all the Pitfire locations, from North Hollywood to Manhattan Beach. The new strawberry rhubarb sangria now on the menu should go nicely with some of the new spring dishes, like the pizza topped with shaved asparagus, ricotta, mint, pea puree and Asiago cheese, and the farmers market plate full of seasonal bounty.
Corner Door: Barman Beau du Bois switches things up every season, this time offering things like the Office Crus, a vodka quaff with kumquats, housemade coriander cordial and aloe vera liqueur, and the Archery Merit Badge, made Jamaican rum, buddha's hand falernum he makes in-house, and Peychaud's bitters.
