5 Things to Eat and Drink at Nest at WP24

WP24 has a lot going for it - stunning views of the Downtown LA skyline and beyond, Wolfgang Puck's Chinese-inspired dishes like Peking duck and chili crabs and now, Nest, a more casual dining room for dim sum, dumplings and kalamnsi creamsicles. Taking over the lounge area, Nest is really for those who don't want to commit to a full sit-down dinner at the adjacent WP24. Now you can sit along new leather banquettes or in one of the tables surrounded by nest-like partitions - the views are still pretty spectacular from almost every seat - and order snacks like Chinese pork cracklings or Singaporean beef turnovers, and fuller entrees like grilled lamb chops with pickles. There's even sushi. For drinks, sip from the impressive wine and spirits list, or try one of the new cocktails like the Bourbon Buddha. Consider Nest a new pre-gaming option for Staples and the Nokia Theatre. Here are at least five things you should eat and drink there right now.

  • Prawn toast with sweet and spicy garlic chili makes a good app to pass around the table.

  • The "nests" at Nest, slatted partitions that proved a bit of privacy but still allow you to see the great view from the 24th floor.

  • Sip on the Bourbon Buddha, an easy-drinking quaff made with Buffalo Trace and Aperol.

  • One of the larger plates: Sambal black sea bass with coconut rice and an over-easy egg is delicate and light.

  • This being Puck, desserts that make you smile are always on the menu, like creamsicles made with kalamnsi sorbet and vanilla ice cream.

  • Matcha green tea donuts with yuzu cream sauce for dipping.
