Big Gay Ice Cream Opening Permanent LA ShopBy Lesley Balla

Come this spring, there will be Salty Pimps for all in Downtown LA. After two wildly successful local Big Gay Ice Cream truck pop-ups, Douglas Quint and Bryan Petroff are officially opening a brick-and-mortar shop this spring in the most appropriate of locations: at Ninth Street and Broadway, just a cone's throw from the new Ace Hotel, Acne Studios, Alma and Umami Burger. "We both had an affinity for coming out here," Petroff tells the LA Times. "Because of L.A.'s amazing weather, the produce, the food and a weirdness - like the weirdness in New York - that we appreciate."
This is the first outpost outside of New York, where there are two shops, including the largest. The menu will feature signature items like the chocolate-dipped Salty Pimp ice cream cones, the Bea Arthur (vanilla soft serve with key lime curd, crushed graham crackers and whipped cream) and some LA-exclusives. As far as the design goes, expect a unicorn and rainbow or two.
