Black Hogg Begins Lunch + Sandwiches Today

Black Hogg opened in early 2012, closed for a few months and reopened with a tight little beer and wine list, all within one year. Now chef Eric Park and partners debut Sopressata, a new lunch menu and concept at the Silver Lake restaurant today. It's still Black Hogg, just with an all-sandwich focus, many made with imported Italian meats and cheeses served on crusty baguette, and counter service.

Park's not reinventing the wheel with these grinders, but the flavor is there: the #99 has sopressata, provolone piccante, extra virgin olive oil, artichokes, aged balsalmic, arugula and red onion; the #77 is made with roast turkey, fontina and similar toppings. For vegetarians, there's avocado and cucumber with the same fixings, or avocado and cheese. The best part - all are priced for $7 and $8, and only hit $10 if you add a can of soda and bag of chips, which completely qualifies it for cheap eats.
