Where to Brunch This Weekend: By Chloe in Silver Lake

Two birds, one stone. It's a great motto when thinking about doing things around LA, especially if you're driving and have to deal with parking. Going out for a show or movie? Have dinner or lunch nearby so you can keep the car in the same lot. The same can go for brunch and shopping. If you're heading to the 365 by Whole Foods in Silver Lake, stop at By Chloe for brunch, which is now available on weekends. Or vice versa: Have a vegan brunch, and grab some groceries for later. Win-win.

The restaurant is adjacent to the new concept store, with an entrance either from the parking lot or directly from the produce aisle, making it even easier to shop and eat in one fell swoop. The new brunch menu goes along with the plant-based cuisine theme, all sort of comfort food without the meat and dairy. There are scrambles with organic tofu, spinach, maple faux sausage and greens on seven-grain toast; quinoa hash browns with sour "cream" and smoked paprika; freshly baked cinnamon rolls; and something called a smoothie bowl, which is basically everything you'd throw in a blender — chia, coconut, raw almond butter, tons of fresh fruit and goji berries — plus housemade granola. There are even pancakes that might win over your favorite buttermilk fans (don't tell them the 'cakes are without; they'll never know the difference). By Chloe's brunch happens every Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM-4 PM, which also overlaps with the regular lunch and dinner menu during those later hours.
