The group behind Abigaile in Hermosa Beach, Wildcraft Sourdough Pizza in Culver City, and Little Sister in Manhattan Beach add Dia de Campo, a new Mexican restaurant, to their roster this week. Envisioned by Tin Vuong and co-owner Jed Sanford, the Hermosa Beach "modern surf lodge" features dishes inspired by East LA cocinas and beachside fish shacks along the coasts of California, Mexico and Hawaii in a casual, communal setting. Chef Ken Johnson (Abigaile, St. Regis Monarch Beach) executes a menu full of things like spiced short rib empanadas with roasted corn salsa, sofrito and egg; lobster tostadas; wood-grilled whole fish with pipian verde, radishes and lime; carnitas with yellow mole; a raw bar; and tequila cocktails, craft beers and wines from Temecula to Uruguay.
