Tonight you can have an all-uni dinner at Adoteca in Brentwood. The three-course menu includes sea urchin carpaccio, black ink taglionlini with sea urchin, and butter-poached lobster with uni, burrata and mache (5:30-10:30 PM). Hit the big Grand Cercle des Vin Bordeaux tasting at Casa del Mar before, where there will be more than 38 winemakers from the Right and Left Bank pouring their vin. Tickets are $45 for the tasting, or $100 for the added buffet dinner (6-8 PM).
Tuesday, April 8
Mendocino Farms and the Ugly Drum bbq guys have teamed up for the House-Smoked Pastrami Project. The new limited edition sandwich featuring 12-hour smoked pastrami and coleslaw on Drago Bakery rye bread is making the rounds around the different Mendos, starting at the Third and Fairfax location, and then will move around to the different locations for a few days at a time. To track it down, follow along on Twitter. And you'll want to show up early, as it seems to run out fast (175 S. Fairfax Ave.; 323-934-4261).
Wednesday, April 9
Spend the afternoon with chef Pascal Lorange at a cooking class and lunch at Fig & Olive today. Focusing on the health and flavor benefits of using olive oil instead of butter or cream, the four-course menu includes chilled cucumber soup, zucchini carpaccio, Chilean sea bas en papillote and apple tart for dessert. $85 includes the hands-on cooking class and lunch. 3-5 PM (8490 Melrose Place; 310-360-9100).
Thursday, April 10
The beer-friendly Verdugo Bar in Glassell Park is hosting a pig roast with the Salt's Cure guys (chefs Chris Phelps and Zak Walters) and Deschutes Brewery. All food and beverages are a la carte and part of the proceeds will go to the Friends of the Los Angeles River. 6-11 PM (3408 Verdugo Rd.; 323-257-3408).
Friday, April 11
Celebrate spring near the beach with new menu items on Bar Pintxo's tapas menu, including charred spring onions with red pepper and garlic sauce; chicken thighs and chickpea stew; and peas with shallots and mint. Or, just head in for the daily happy hour from 4-6 PM, when select tapas, wines by the glass, beer and sangria are only $6 (109 Santa Monica Blvd.; 310-458-2012).
Saturday, April 12
A good portion of this season's best and biggest food events happen this weekend, including Pebble Beach Food & Wine and Coachella, which is actually more food-focused than ever, but if you're not at either of those, definitely hit the very final-final Grilled Cheese Invitational. After all, April 12 is National Grilled Cheese Day. The greasy, cheesy all-out fried fun fest takes place at the Los Angeles Center Studios for one last run. Professional and novice chefs compete for glory and trophies, and several of the past winners will return to vie for the ultimate cheese crown. Tickets range from $15-$25. 11 AM-6 PM (1201 W. 5th St.).
Sunday, April 13
Don’t forget the Bakers Will Bake bake sale at the Hollywood Farmers Market today, where a lot of the city's top pastry chef will donate goods for school gardens. And for dinner, Theo Schoeneger from Sinatra at Encore at the Wynn in Las Vegas will be cooking an all-vegan Italian feast with Tal Ronnen at Crossroads. The five-course menu is $45 per person; sneak a peek here.
