For the Kooky, er, Cookies
Now through October 31, Village Bakery owner Barbara Monderine and her team of bakers celebrate the 13 Days of Halloween with super-cute holiday-inspired treats in the pastry case, with a new one added every day through Halloween. Kids and kids at heart can go in for the daily specials like monster eyeball cookies, witches' fingers, spider web cupcakes and brownie bats, or wait until the end and get the full array of sweets. Here's the rundown on what you'll get and when, but you can special order any between now and Halloween, or get a gift box with all 13 for $35 (3119 Los Feliz Blvd.; 323-662-8600).

For the Pumpkin Artistes
Get those creative juices flowing: Plan Check holds its second annual pumpkin carving contest this weekend, starting today through Sunday, October 20. Go in between 3-6 PM any day and take a stab - get it? - at carving the most creative pumpkin. Entry is free and they'll supply everything, including the pumpkins and tools. Competitors, guests and fans can vote for their favorite pumpkins on Facebook, and the PC team will announce all winners and prizes on Halloween day. While you're there, enjoy some fried chicken. It's impossible not to (1800 Sawtelle Blvd.; 310-288-6500).

For Hipsters, Real or Faux
Don your best hipster costume - or you know, just go as yourself - for the "A Very Hipster Halloween" show at El Cid, featuring indie rock cover band Black Crystal Wolf Kids, plus J Laser and Mind the Gap on Friday, October 25. There will be costume contests, prizes and we're sure a few cocktail specials from bartendress and jammer Laura Ann Masura, who regularly uses her pumpkin maple butter in delicious concoctions. Festivities start at 9 PM. Tickets are $10 (4212 W. Sunset Blvd.; 323-668-0318).

For the Party Animal
The new State Social House, which took over both Red Rock and Isla on the Sunset Strip, is throwing an Animal House Toga Party on Saturday, October 26, 30 and 31. Wear your best sheet, pull your best Bluto and enjoy drink specials, contests and live music all night long. The party starts with bands at 6 PM, with more live music in the piano bar at 10 PM (8782 W. Sunset Blvd.; 310-657-8100).

For the Westsiders
Wokcano in Santa Monica goes all Walking Dead for its Halloween party on Saturday, October 26. The zombie-themed night includes DJs, costume contests, photo booths, and food and drink specials from 8-10 PM. Whatever you wear - zombie, sexy, scary, scary sexy zombie - enter to win an array of prizes. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 for VIP, which allows you to jump the line. Get them here (1413 Fifth St.; 310-458-3080).

For the Pig-Headed
On Monday, October 28, chef Kris Morningstar takes a chainsaw to a whole-fried stuffed pig's head on the patio at Ray's & Stark Bar. That's just the showpiece of the Wurst Halloween Party Ever, which also features assorted wurst plates - weisswurst, braunschweigner, bratwurst and more - special cocktails like the Dragon’s Tail - made with blended Scotch, allspice dram, lime and bitters - and The Blood Sucking Brady Bunch, and wine and beer specials. Go in costume to enter the contest for prizes. Festivities begin at 7 PM, carving is at 9 PM, and the contest winners will be announced shortly after (5905 Wilshire Blvd.; 323-857-6180).

For the (Haute) Dogs
On Monday, October 28, Dog Haus Biergarten in Old Town Pasadena celebrates its third anniversary with an '80s prom party, which includes costume contests, '80s cover bands, break-dancers and spiked punch. Entry is free, but food - Haus dogs, chili cheese dogs and "Dirt Bags," basically Frito pie served in the bag - will be available in the biergarten for purchase (cash only). Starts at 6 PM (93 E. Green St.; 626-683-0808).

For the Zombies
Once again, all of the 213 Ventures bar in Downtown LA host a zombie crawl on Thursday, October 31. Stop by any (or all), including Seven Grand, Cana Rum Bar, Las Perlas, Broadway Bar, Golden Gopher, Casey's, Tony's Saloon, 4100 Bar and the brand-new Honeycut for costumes, creepy decor and punch, only $5 for anyone dressed as a zombie. Instagram a picture of yourself with a bartender at as many 213 bars as possible with #213ZombieCrawl and be entered to win best costume. Those with the most locations featured can win $666 for first place, $666 in free drinks for second place, and $66.60 in free drinks for third.

For the Little Goblins
To bring down their sugar rush on Halloween night, take the kiddies to any Burger Lounge around LA (Santa Monica, Brentwood, West Hollywood) and they'll eat free. The meal - small cheeseburger or chicken tenders with fries or salad and a soft drink - is available for anyone 12 and under, costume or not. And anyone who dines at 90210Pho on Halloween night gets one of chef Kimmy Tang's edible lady fingers.

For the Fancy
Fig & Olive celebrates with Veuve Clicquot on Halloween night. From 6-11 PM, find a prix fixe menu for $45, plus the regular menu, and follow up with the costume bash with St. Tropez DJ Julien Nolan. There will be themed cocktails, party favors and (we imagine) tasteful yet luxe festive decor. The bubbles will definitely flow (8490 Melrose Pl.; 310-360-9100).
