Every Monday, chef Josh Wigham now offers a special tasting menu at The Bazaar - get your choice of three tapas from the menu, plus an array of snacks and small bites, for $55. New dishes include Brussels sprouts with lemon “air,” apricots and grapes; sautéed cauliflower cous cous wthi Ottoman carrot fritters; and seared squid with braised wagyu beef cheeks. A Philly cheesesteak pop-up? Why not. Freddy Smalls is taking over the former Shack in Santa Monica all week for a cheesesteak lunch. Get the sandwiches - rib eye steak, mushrooms, marinated Hungarian peppers and onions and cheese - for $12 with chips; add a beer for $4 more. Takes place from 11 AM-2:30 PM through Friday, August 2 (2518 Wilshire Blvd.)
Wednesday, July 31
Today markst the beginning of Rosa Mexicano’s annual Ice Cream Festival featuring sweet and savory ice creams, ice cream-stuffed churros, paletas, tableside dessert guacamole (i.e. avocado ice cream) and more. The menu is available at both the West Hollywood and LA Live locations through August 25.
Thursday, August 1
Head to Dominick’s for the pig roast feast on the patio tonight. Or, if mac and cheese is your thing, check out the Thursday night mac and cheese specials at The Hudson. Each week the West Hollywood spot has several new flavors on the menu for $11 - tonight it’s crispy pancetta with gorgonzola and rosted tomato; charred broccolini with white cheddar and crushed red pepper; and wild mushroom with feta and toasted pine nuts.
Friday, August 2
For the month of August, get a traditional Sardinian and Sicilian swordfish dinner at Valentino in Santa Monica Tuesday through Saturdays from 6:30 PM till closing. Each appetizer and entrée order comes with a commemorative “Piatto del Buon Ricordo” plate (3115 Pico Blvd.; 310-829-4313).
Saturday, August 3
Back for its 11th year, Project by Project’s Plate by Plate food, sake and wine event takes place at the Vibiana today. Some restaurants participating include Allumette, Bestia, Alma and Paiche (check out the full list here). Tickets are $250 for VIP, which gets you early entry, and $150 for general admission; pick them up here (214 South Main St.).

The Lucques Ribfest is a week early at Tavern today. Need dessert instead? Lono’s Sweet Shop serves Hawaiian shaved ice poolside at The Standard, Hollywood from noon to 6 PM every weekend (Friday through Sunday) throughout the summer. Flavors run the traditional gamut - vanilla, strawberry, mango, coconut and more - and you can even get a shot of rum added.
