Loteria Grill and Torta Co. Coming to Figat7thBy Lesley Balla | November 19, 2013 By Lesley Balla | November 19, 2013
Jimmy Shaw will open his fifth location of Loteria Grill at Figat7th in December, adding to the already pretty delicious roster of restaurants in the Downtown LA food court. This will be more like the stand at the Original Farmers Market and not like the restaurants in Hollywood, Studio City, Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica, a place to stop for the tacos, enchiladas and chilaquiles for which Shaw is known. And next to it, he and his brother Andrew Shaw will debut the Torta Co., a new Loteria concept for Mexican sandwiches stuffed with chorizo with Oaxaca cheese, breaded chicken, pulled pork, turkey in mole, Veracruz-style battered snapper with beans, or poblano peppers and cheese. There will also be breakfast tortas and molletes, open-faced sandwiches with chorizo, bacon, ham or creamy black beans with jack cheese, which you'll find available now on the Loteria brunch menus. The new Loteria Grill and Torta Co. will open on December 14, with a preview party with live music on Friday, December 13 (7-10 PM) (732 S. Figueroa St.).
