The unofficial start to summer is upon us: Memorial Day weekend. It doesn't just mean a three-day holiday - although that is fantastic - it's also a time to thank those who serve for our country. And eat burgers and drink beer. Here are some specials you'll find around town this weekend and on Monday, May 26.

Bucato: The Culver City restaurant will serve Evan Funke's burger - the one he made famous back in his Rustic Canyon days - on Monday. The beef burger can be topped with egg and/or bacon and it comes with fries. It's the only thing on the menu that day. There will also be Budweiser on tap (because this is America, ya'll!) plus the regular beer and wine offerings. Twenty percent of all proceeds will go to Wounded Warrior Project. Noon to 8 PM.

Bludso's Bar & Que: Last year the La Brea barbecue joint opened for take-out only and sold out of brisket, ribs and pulled pork in about two hours. Don't miss out this year. Order ahead to puck up on Monday from 11 AM-3 PM.

Casa Ado: Everyone who dines at the Marina del Rey restaurant before noon on Saturday, Sunday and Monday gets a 15% discount. Here's a look at the brunch menu.

Plan Check: Starting this Friday, the Sawtelle and Fairfax gastropubs will be serving flights of Golden Road Brewing beers for $5 and $8 (five and eight beers, respectively) through May 31, plus $2 happy hour discount on pints every day. There's also the Tommy Lasorda Burger, a beef patty topped with bacon spread, tomatoes, lettuce, dashi cheese and...a hot dog. It's America on a bun!

Katana: On Sunday, May 25, the Red Sun BBQ is back at the West Hollywood spot. Every Sunday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend there are food and drink specials, DJs and more on the patio. 6-11:30 PM.

Bo NuageStop into the Parisian pastry shop for a free coffee all weekend long. Just purchase two pastries and you'll have a choice of hot or cold brewed Stumptown coffee gratis.

The Hudson: The West Hollywood hot spot extends its popular boozy brunch to Monday, which means $15 bottomless mimosas, $6 Bloody Marys and micheladas and $8 Irish Mules from 10 AM-4 PM.

Franklin & Company: If you don't feel like grilling your own, the Franklin Village gastropub will have a special bbq menu all weekend long, including brisket, pulled pork sliders, cheddar pepper cornbread, blue cheese coleslaw, potato salad and more. The menu is served starting at 1 PM Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
