In an effort to bring pork belly banh mi sandwiches, steak Cobb salads and turkey meatball subs to every corner of the Los Angeles culinary landscape, Mendocino Farms opens its seventh location in Sherman Oaks this week. This is the first location for the Valley, which is close to owners Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen's hearts (they live there). The space is similar to the other locations with the signature blue cow statues, chalkboard walls, worn wood and turf-covered benches, plus a 25-foot-tall tree going straight through the ceiling. Chef Judy Han's sandwiches and salads are the stars, including this season's steak pretzel melt, turkey sub, and Southwest chicken salad, made with a good selection of local ingredients from local farmers. The restaurant officially opens on Thursday, October 10, serving 11 AM-9 PM.
