Apparently s'mores are a new trend, thanks to Cronut inventor Dominique Ansel. But it's summer, and summer screams s'mores, so of course they're popular this time of year. But this weekend (Saturday, August 10) also just happens to be National S'mores Day. You need to celebrate.
Delicious renditions of the chocolate-marshmallow-graham cracker treat can be found all over Los Angeles: as an incredible ice cream pie at Sweet Rose Creamery, with house-made graham crackers in the crust and toasted marshmallows on top; the make-your-own s'mores, complete with little pots of molten chocolate and marshmallow, at Luna Park; and the cupcake-like treats at Gotta Have S'More, the LA-based online bakery that ships anywhere, to name a few.
But you can't really beat a s'mores bao from Take A Bao in Century City and Studio City. Yes, that is a chocolate bao bun filled with marshmallow, hot fudge and graham crackers. And yes, it is pretty tasty. No campfire needed.
