New Openings: Glazed Donut Bistro, DeSano Pizza, MoreBy Lesley Balla | February 14, 2014 By Lesley Balla | February 14, 2014
Can there ever be too much pizza in one city? Absolutely not. DeSano Pizza Bakery, operated by a couple of Italians (a former Cecconi's GM and a pizzaiolo from Naples), opened in East Hollywood this week. The massive new space sports four wood-burning ovens, picnic tables everywhere and some darn good cannoli. Here's a first look at the offerings.
Instead of just serving a bar menu in the WP24 lounge, Wolfgang Puck added some new seating areas and a fuller menu for more casual dining on the 24th floor of the Ritz-Carlton in Downtown LA. Now called Nest, the menu has everything from dumplings and dim sum to grilled lamb chops, Bourbon Buddha cocktails made with sage and whisky and matcha donuts for dessert. Go here for more.
Sweet and savory donuts with beer and wine pairings (!) are a thing now that Glazed Donut Bistro is open in West Hollywood. Think: fried chicken beignets and pecan pie donuts at all hours of the day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
French-inspired cloud cakes, little meringue balls with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, are about to take LA by storm. There are now two shops specializing in the confection - Bo Nuage, which opened right before the holidays, and Le Mervetty, which officially debuts today. Learn more before you sample.
