Photo of the Day: Red Medicine's Poached Potatoes
It's a good thing chef Jordan Kahn's food was never overshadowed by the critic-booting antics that Red Medicine became known for when it opened in 2010. His dishes are both works of art and celebrations of the seasons, gorgeous creations that are breathtaking on the plate and palate. Sure, the chicken dumplings and a cocktail at the bar are easy, especially later when a lot of other restaurants are closed in that part of town. But to dine on a full meal when a parade of dishes with transformed ingredients is a true experience. Kahn recently hit the social medias with photos of new dishes (he's also now on Instagram), including this absolutely stunning plate of young potatoes poached in cream, crisp rice dumplings, and wild grasses, flowers and succulents foraged from the Malibu coast in a pool of raw wheatgrass and chive juice. It's almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
