Three LA Beer Events You Can't Miss

By Lesley Balla  |  August 2, 2013

The annual 213 Beer Crawl has expanded to two days - that's right, you can now go through all of the Downtown bars (Casey's, Cole's, Broadway Bar, Golden Gopher, Seven Grand, Cana Rum Bar and Las Perlas) on both Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11. Curated with the help of the Beer Chicks, more than 100 craft beers will be offered from top breweries, including Allagash, Brouwerji West, Cismontane, Deschutes, Eagle Rock, El Segundo, Firestone, Golden Road, Goose Island, Hangar 24, Noble Aleworks, Smog City, Speakeasy, Stone, Uncommon, Valiant, Weihenstephane and so many more. Tickets are $119 for a two-day VIP pass, which gets you early admission into bars and private seminars; or $69 each day. General admission is $49 per person. Make a night of it and stay at the Biltmore Hotel - there's a special rate for attendees throughout the weekend. Find more info and tickets here.

And a couple beer stalwarts celebrate their anniversaries in classic blowout style. Blue Palms Brewhouse is throwing down an afternoon tasting event for its fifth birthday. The list of beer participants is enormous (check it out here), and you'll get to taste 10 for $45 ($50 at the door) plus enjoy some special menu items gratis. Owner Brian Lenzo promises extra A/C units and misters - it does get hot in there. Get more info and tickets here. Sunday, August 11, noon to 5 PM.

Not only Mohawk Bend toasting two years in Echo Park, the building that houses it is officially 100 years old. From August 8-13, new beers will roll on tap every day, from The Bruery's Sour in the Rye to Habanero Sclupin. On August 14, head in for a special release party for Mohawk Bend beer collaboration from Golden Road. Tickets are $24.95 and include passed apps and beer tasting. And on August 21, get all-you-can-eat pizza in the Romona Room for $15.95. There will be four new flavors, including a kung pao pizza. Reservations are required for the release and pizza parties; make them by calling 213-483-2337.
