The much anticipated South Beach Wine & Food Festival officially kicks off today. We got a chance to catch up with Miami's top chefs before the madness begins to hear what they are most excited about this year and which chefs they can't wait to see. Of course, we'll be there to catch all the action, so stay tuned for more coverage throughout the fest.
Scott Conant - Scarpetta
“With the SoBe Wine & Food Festival comes all the friends and outlying family that I haven't seen since the last one. Best of the Best on Friday is something that I am proud of and have been a part of almost since its inception. The private moments between us chefs, having drinks and sharing in the fun are what makes it truly special for me.”
Dena Marino - MC Kitchen
"We have a private dinner we are hosting for Esquire magazine and the first ever Kitchen Heat Battle (Saturday at Grand Tasting Village) with my teammate Shane Battier of the Miami Heat. We’ve been training and are ready to take on Chris Bosh and his chef in our relay cooking event, which benefits their charities Battier Take Charge and Team Tomorrow."
Todd Erickson - Haven
"This year I'm helping Art Smith and the boys from the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck round up local talent and organize the second annual Big Gay Ice Cream Social to help raise awareness for Equality Florida and their fight for marriage equality in Florida. The fact that I have come to a point in my career that I can use my love for food and parlay that into helping a cause that is near and dear to my heart, makes me feel very accomplished."
Michelle Bernstein - Michy's
"I'm so excited about The Spice Dinner at the Four Seasons and working with Lior Lev Sercarz. He is an immensely talented and I can't cook without his spices; they brought a new dimension to my food! I am a huge fan of Michael Solomonov's food, I'm so excited about just being in the same kitchen, and speaking of kitchens, Aaron Brooks is just awesome; I have worked at the Edge before and he is always so generous and is so very talented."
Jamie DeRosa- Tongue & Cheek
“We are hosting Robert Irvine’s lunch at the Cheek with other Food Network Personalities on Feb 21st at 12pm and then participating in Burger Bash in the evening. The team is proud we are competing with our Beef Cheek Burger and hopefully puts on a good showing. Our good friend Geoffrey Zakarian is judging, and his advice: don’t f#$% it up!"
