Daily Digestif: Novecento Owner Found Dead, Taperia Raca Opens Friday

Short Order reports that the owner of the Novecento chain Hector Rolotti, has been found dead. He apparently died after trying to save a drowning man last week in India.

From March 26-May 28, The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions in Upper East Side presents its Crawfish Wednesdays. The rustic American hot spot will offer exclusive a la carte dishes like saffron scented crawfish fritters ($9) and Momo's NoLa Gumbo ($16) from 6-9 PM accompanied by bottomless bubbles and beer ($20 per person during dinner service).

Food critic Evan S. Benn from Miami.com recently gave Midtown's much talked about Bocce Bar a rotten review. After a long wait and overly salty food, the critic gave the Italian eatery 1.5 stars, stating it's "off to a bumpy start."

Taperia Raca opens this Friday in the MiMo District. The casual Spanish tapas space will feature small plates of marinated olives with garlic, empanadas made with salt cod and poached octopus with lemon.

According to Short Order, the mega food chain Smoothie King has now launched veggie smoothies. The new Veggie Blends drinks (all under 300 calories) come in three different flavors: Berry Carrot Dream, Apple Kiwi Kale and Carrot Kale Dream ($4.59 each for small size).
