Where to Eat on Ocean Drive

By Carissa Chesanek | July 11, 2014 By Carissa Chesanek  |  July 11, 2014

With its swarms of tourists and indistinguishable restaurants, Ocean Drive gets a bad food rep. But there are places on the drag well worth weaving through the fanny pack crowd. Here are five to try now.

1. BLT Steak (pictured)

The chophouse is trendy without being over-the-top flashy. And despite its location, you're more likely to find locals than out-of-towners enjoying the signature monster popovers and deliciously charred chops.

2. News Cafe

You can't knock this standby American eatery with its killer — and relatively inexpensive — breakfast. The huge terrace lets you watch the crowd without getting lost in it.

3. Larios on the Beach

Gloria and Emilio Estefan's lively Cuban hot spot is worth the trip, especially with its revamped interior and updated menu (try the bacon-wrapped maduros).

4. Il Sole

Inside The Villa By Barton G. (formerly the Versace mansion), this quaint Mediterranean restaurant has impressive mosaic-covered walls and a cozy patio overlooking the 24-karat gold-lined pool.

5. Prime 112

Sophistication meets sexy inside this see-and-be-seen SoFi steakhouse. Still, the mingling A-list crowd pales in comparison to the larger than life surf 'n' turf dishes and must-try desserts.
