Alamo Drafthouse Serving Food and Films in YonkersBy Jenny Miller | August 15, 2013 By Jenny Miller | August 15, 2013
We just got word that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the Austin-based movies-with-food-and-drinks chain, opened earlier this month in Yonkers. (As you may recall, locations are also planned for the Upper West Side and Downtown Brooklyn.) Much like our own homegrown Nighthawk Cinema, Alamo invites you to sit down, order food and booze (see the menu here), and let servers bring it to you while the movie plays. Alamo founder Tim League has a big committment to indie films and gems from the archives, which is evident from the many special events that happen at each location. Currently you can watch new releases like Elysium and The Way, Way Back or celebrate the grand opening with zany happenings including a Monty Python and the Holy Grail quote-a-long or The Darjeeling Limited accompanied by an Avery Brewing beer dinner. Buy tickets or get more info at the Yonkers website.
