Greenpoint Getting a New Barcelona-Style Tapas Bar

By Billy Lyons | December 27, 2013 By Billy Lyons  |  December 27, 2013

A Barcelona tapas bar and restaurant is set to open this Sunday in Greenpoint, adding another diverse dining option just north of McCarren Park. El Born joins Calexico and Luksus as part of Manhattan Avenue's ever diversifying global restaurant scene. Chef Diego Gonzalez, ex-Macondo, offers a menu full of exotic dishes like seared octopus and crispy suckling pig, items inspired by owner Elena Manich's Catalonian background. A selection of Spanish and local wines, including cava, are available to pair with the variety of light bites. The restaurant is scheduled to open with dinner service from 5 PM to 11 PM, with the bar staying open until 2 AM.
