Coming Soon: Sweet Chick, a Williamsburg chicken and waffles specialist, will open its first Manhattan location on May 7. The restaurant, which will take over the former Max Fish space in the Lower East Side, brings over the bridge a new Southern menu full of chicken fried short ribs with beer gravy and a peach and mint bourbon ice tea just in time for spring brunch. The 60-seat dining room will also offer a weekend and weekday brunch shortly after opening for those of us in need of a bacon Bloody Mary to deal with a case of the Mondays. (178 Ludlow St.)
Big Apple BBQ Beat: Pulled pork aficionados can now view a full line up of participating pitmasters in the upcoming Big Apple BBQ. A few of the 16 'cue maestros that will be in attendance include representatives from New York such as Dinosaur BBQ as well as Daniel Delaney from BrisketTown, though there's plenty of chances to sample out of state offerings. Renowned BBQ guru Ed Mitchell will be in attendance, while brisket and sausage from Mississippi and North Carolina will showcase the diverse styles of each region's barbecue. Wined Up: After taking on Iron Chef and the equally formidable New York City steakhouse scene, Marc Forgione is turning his attention to the world of wine. Beginning Monday, Forgione's rosé, a 2013 Anne Pichon, will be available to order by the glass or the magnum at his namesake restaurant, Marc Forgione. The chef previously released two wines from his own collection, and also plans to release his latest offering at his steakhouse American Cut as well as Khe-yo in the upcoming weeks.
