Classic East Village Bar Holiday Cocktail Lounge Reopens With New Drinks Program

Quintessential East Village dive, Holiday Cocktail Lounge, closed its doors in 2012, after 47 years of slinging drinks to poets, intellectuals and musicians like Frank Sinatra and Keith Richards. Today, the historic bar reopens having been purchased and renovated over a three year period by snacks magnate Robert Ehrlich (creator of Pirate's Booty). The front of the space is now reserved for live performances, and the bar's iconic phone booth remains intact, with the original phone number. The renovation also unearthed a basement tunnel from the Prohibition era that runs across St. Marks Place.  

In the vein of similar restored dives like the LES' One Fifty One, the cocktail program has been upgraded, in this case by bartender brothers Michael (Ward III, Rum House) and Danny Neff (Extra Fancy). Expect signature drinks like The Ocean Club (Saint Teresa 1796 Rum, Meletti Amaro, pineapple cordial, and fresh lime), The Brooklyn Babe (Brooklyn gin, BK Hemispherical bitters, fresh lime, raw honey syrup, Pickett's ginger beer) as well as a beer and shot menu,craft beer and wines by the glass and half-bottle. There's also a daily "foraged" cocktail, which will be made from local ingredients found in nearby East Village shops. Also new to the game, a food menu from chef Barbara Sibley (La Palapa) that is still a work in progress. Check out the full drinks menu below.
