Death + Company presented its customers an early seven-year-anniversary gift by revealing a new set of cocktails and bites. The well-respected lounge with the skull doorknobs divides its menu based on your spirit of choice, with the usual suspects from rum to gin ushering in a selection of carefully crafted drinks, with names like The Commandant and Hadley's Tears. Among the $14 libations are the Get Lucky (a rum-based drink spiked with ginger and honey syrups, among other flavors) and a spicy Stringer Bell (jalapeño-infused tequila, amontillado sherry and Cynar, with celery juice, salt, cane syrup and fresh lime). There are also amusing quotes on the menu for a bubbly touch ("I distrust camels, and anyone else who can go a week without a drink").
The new cocktails are a result of the collaborative effort of expert mixologists Jillian Vose, Scott James Teague and Al Sotack, whose collective resume includes the Pegu Club (Teague), Campari America (Vose) and The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. (Sotack) in Philadelphia - which actually puts all of your investments in alcohol.
