First Look: Il Mulino Prime Opens in SoHoBy Kelly Dobkin | June 17, 2014 By Kelly Dobkin | June 17, 2014
The gist: Classic Village Italian spot Il Mulino gets a steakhouse sibling in Il Mulino Prime, now open in nearby SoHo.
The space: The 77-seat space (with eight bar seats) was designed by Lee Katzoff and Rozhia Tabnak and is lined with white-washed exposed brick walls strewn with Hemingway quotes and white taxidermy.
The food: Executive chef Michele Mazza (corporate executive chef for the brand) has put the focus on prime cuts of meat including grass fed and bone-in cuts. A 16 oz. bison ribeye, two sizes of filet mignon, prime New York strip and porterhouse are among some of the meat-centric offerings. Pastas like short rib ravioli, fusilli lobster mac and cheese, and linguini with clam sauce are also on offer as well as a raw bar menu and seafood entrees like jumbo shrimp Francese and roasted Branzino. Check out the full menu below.
The drinks: Takes on classic cocktails like the Manhattan, Negroni, Cosmo and Old Fashioned round out the cocktail list as well as a boozy Arnold Palmer.
The details: 331 W. Broadway; 212-226-0020
