The gist: Ask any Angeleno where to go for sushi and their eyes will widen dramatically as they whisper one word: "Sugarfish." News that the cult sushi restaurant with affordable, high-quality omakases would be expanding to NYC broke a year ago and anticipation has been building ever since. Finally, the wait is over. Sugarfish, the sushi bar-less "fine casual" concept is now open in Flatiron.

Trust Me Lite

The sushi: Just like the LA location, there are three omakase-style offerings plus an a la carte menu. The "Trust Me" options start at $27 with the "Trust me Lite" that begins with edamame and features tuna sashimi, various tuna and salmon sushi and ends with a toro hand roll. The full-on Trust Me features slightly more sushi for $39 and the largest, Nozawa Trust Me will run you $51. Check out full menu below.

The drinks: Expect a simple menu of beer, sake, wine plus tea and soda.

The details: 33 E. 20th Street; 347-705-8100. Sugarfish is open every day for lunch and dinner.
