First Look: Smorgasburg Favorite Dosa Royale Now OpenBy Clay Williams | January 23, 2014 By Clay Williams | January 23, 2014
After two years of serving their authentic Indian street food at the Brooklyn Flea, Dosa Royale recently opened up a brick and mortar location in Carroll Gardens.
Husband and wife team Thiru and Heather Rajamani, who also own Fort Greene's Dino, have expanded the menu to include 10 variations on the Indian crepes along with curries, shared Thali platters and a starter menu full of samosas, fritters and even a fried lentil doughnut. The menu includes meat and vegetarian options and the dosas themselves are naturally gluten-free. Clearly the main event on this menu, there are more than seven dosa varieties and they come stuffed with ingredient variations like cheese and spinach, and carrots, cabbage and string beans. You can see the full menu here.
There is also a full bar featuring custom cocktails using Indian flavors like the Madurai Sour, made with bourbon, lemon, tamarind and rose water. The bar stocks mostly local beers, but also includes the iconic Indian import, Kingfisher. The venue is open now for lunch, brunch and dinner at 316 Court Street (718-576-3800).
