The gist: Powerhouse trio Ian Schrager (hotelier) Stephen Starr (restaurateur) and London chef Jason Atherton recently opened The Clocktower at The New York EDITION hotel. Located at 5 Madison Avenue, this is the first U.S. restaurant for the British chef, who previously teamed up with Schrager on the acclaimed Berners Tavern at the London outpost of the EDITION.

The food and drinks: The à la carte-style menu, described as "contemporary cuisine with British sensibilities" features appetizers like big-eye tuna tataki, English cucumber, radish, avocado and ponzu and mains like dover sole in a Grenoblaise sauce, ox cheek mac and cheese, and three different steaks. The "Social Section" of the menu offers proteins for two including a breadcrumb-stuffed roast chicken. In the drinks department you'll find playful $16 craft cocktails with equally playful names and presentations (the Gap Year comes with a friendship bracelet and a glowstick, see below) like the Dill or No Dill: Beefeater gin, fresh dill, smashed cucumber, lemon juice, elderflower syrup, smoked salt solution, as well as a 300-bottle wine list.

The space: Located in the historic Met Life Tower which was built in 1893 and modeled after the Campanile in Venice, the building previously housed Metropolitan Life Insurance Company HQ until 2005. The stunning interiors designed by David Rockwell separate into several rooms (labeled by color - red, blue, purple and gold) all lined with framed photos of various celebrities, rock stars and historical figures curated by Trunk Archive. The mahogany-paneled space includes original details like antique door knobs, crown moldings and a stone fireplace. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take a look around below.
