Healthy Chain Sweetgreen Opens Tomorrow

New York's about to get a taste of the sweet life, or at least the sweet life according to DC-based healthy chain sweetgreen, set to open tomorrow next door to the NoMad Hotel. Offering signature and custom salads and wraps, plus soups, fresh cold-pressed juices and fro-yo, sweetgreen's whole living, local, organic ethos seems perfectly positioned to cater to the area's working lunch scene. Stop by tomorrow until 4 PM for the location's opening day special to "pay what you want," with 100% of proceeds benefiting City Harvest (and if you download the store's app beforehand, you'll arrive with a $5 credit).

We sampled the guacamole green salad, misoba salad, and July special salad, plus gazpacho, roasted corn salad and fro-yo, and would happily return for more. While the guacamole green salad is the chain's best seller, it was the sweet and spicy misoba salad (mesclun greens, soba noodles, avocado, corn, carrots, seeds, cilantro, sriracha and miso sesame ginger vinaigrette) that had us wishing we worked closer to this new farm-to-table lunchtime powerhouse.
