Nab a Spot for Chefs Hugh Acheson & Suzanne GoinBy Billy Lyons | November 14, 2013 By Billy Lyons | November 14, 2013
Marco Canora is celebrating Hearth's 10-year anniversary with a few blow-out dinners - and while next Wednesday's 10-chef extravaganza is sold out, there are still tickets available for another special event, concluding a series in which one out-of-town chef would join Canora in the kitchen. On Tuesday, November 19, Hugh Acheson, Top Chef judge and owner of Atlanta's Empire State South, will bring a touch of Southern hospitality to the East Village for a four-course feast. Acheson's selections include a Southern charcuterie course (think rabbit roulade and country ham), as well as a stew of tripe with hominy and andouille sausage; meanwhile, Canora is cooking up organic chicken with Calabrian chile, followed by pumpkin bombolini for dessert. Seatings will take place from 6 PM to 10 PM, and dinner is priced at $76 (before tax and tip). You can reserve a spot by phone or online (646-602-1300).
On the West side of town, April Bloomfield's Spotted Pig is hosting Los Angeles chef Suzanne Goin of A.O.C. on Wednesday, November 20. Dishes from Goin's new book, The A.O.C. Cookbook - such as dandelion and roasted carrot salad with black olives and ricotta salata, and pork cheeks with polenta, mustard cream and horseradish gremolata - will be served along with à la carte items from Bloomfield's popular gastropub. Guests will also get a head start on holiday shopping, since signed copies of Goin's cookbook will be available for purchase. Dinner begins at 5:30 PM, and tables are available on a first come, first serve basis (212-620-0393).
