Trend Alert: S'mores Desserts Around NYC

Every year around this time we get a craving for that perfect combination of gooey burnt marshmallow, melted chocolate and crispy graham cracker, aka s'mores. Luckily, a slew of NYC pastry chefs are on the same page. Here are a few desserts around town inspired by the campfire classic. 

  • S'mores Macarons at Francois Payard Bakery and FP Patisserie

    The acclaimed pastry chef is tackling the s'mores trend by creating a version using his famous macarons. He uses golden-brown marshmallow and chocolate ganache for the filling and encloses it with crisp graham cracker pastry on both sides.

  • S'more Calzone at Emily

    This popular Clinton Hill pizza joint puts that extra dough to good use by stuffing it with marshmallows and chocolate, dusting it with graham crackers and roasting it in their wood-burning oven.

  • Chocolate S'Mores Sundae at The Harrison

    S'mores as a sundae? Genius. The iconic TriBeCa restaurant's new pastry chef Sohrob Esmaili has created this chocolate-based sundae topped with toasted-marshmallow ice cream and a graham tuile.

    Gianduja Budino at The Grill at Bedford Post Inn

    Altamarea Group's takeover of the food and beverage program at Richard Gere's upstate hideaway, Bedford Post Inn, means big changes to the menus at The Grill, The Barn and upcoming new restaurant, Campagna. At The Grill, former Marea pastry chef Jim Eckler puts this Italian spin on the classic s'more with the addition of gianduja (hazelnut chocolate similar to Nutella) mixing it into a chocolate budino with brûléed banana and burnt marshmallow.

  • Orange Blossom S'mores at St. Mazie Bar & Supper Club

    This Williamsburg bar and eatery known for its flamenco night adds a little fruit to the mix with their Orange Blossom S’mores: served in a mason jar and made with handmade graham cracker, salted caramel-chocolate mousse and orange blossom marshmallow.

  • S'more Bar at Red Rooster Harlem

    Pastry chef Melissa Camacho (Top Chef: Just Desserts, Food Network's Game of Cones) puts her spin on the childhood favorite at Marcus Samuelsson's Harlem eatery, Red Rooster. Her S'more Bar starts with devil's-food cake, layers in graham cracker and tops it with a layer of toasted marshmallow alongside toasted-marshmallow ice cream.

  • S'mores Tart at Beauty & Essex

    Pastry chef Jaime Sudberg just added a new s'mores dessert to the menu at this Lower East Side hot spot — the S'mores Tart here is made with a honey graham cracker crust, molten chocolate, meringue and toasted-almond ice cream.

  • S'mores Pizza at Catch

    At Meatpacking hot spot Catch, two of the most crave-worthy dishes around —​ s'mores and pizza — are fused into one clever dessert. Flatbread is topped with toasted marshmallows, chocolate pieces and graham cracker crumbs, and served with burnt-marshmallow ice cream on the side.

  • S'mores Pie at Butter & Scotch

    The clever ladies at Butter & Scotch, whose desserts can be found at Smorgasburg, Whole Foods, Dean & Deluca and more, have translated the flavors of s'mores into pie form: graham cracker crust, rich chocolate filling and toasted-marshmallow meringue on top.
