4 Don’t-Miss Rittenhouse Row Culinary Collective Events

Can you hear the swish? Led by Kevin Sbraga and Starr Restaurants’ Danielle DelRe, the upscale Center City dining rooms west of Broad have come together to present a week of events they’re calling the Rittenhouse Row Culinary Collective.

From Monday August 4-Thursday, August 7, at least 18 restaurants are hosting special dinners or offering special deals, and this is no standardized Restaurant Week promotion — no two events are alike. There are guest chef dinners and tasting menus and cookbook previews and one-time-only tribute menus. Pretty much the only thing that ties these events together is they’re all happening over those four days, which makes it tough to choose what to attend.

Participating restaurants include Eli Kulp's + bar, Sbraga, Jose Garces' Bar Volvér and Tinto, Stephen Starr's Alma de Cuba and El Rey, Devon Seafood Grill, Meritage, Lacroix, Zama, Russet, Davio's, The Corner Foodery and more. You can view the whole schedule of what everyone's got planned here, but below are four we think are worth booking right away.

1) V Street Preview at Cook

There are just a couple of seats left for the Monday, August 4, class put on by Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby of Vedge at the intimate show kitchen. For $190 per person (here), you can join your deep-pocketed, vegetable-loving compatriots and enjoy a meal that features items destined for the street food-focused menu of the couple’s forthcoming vegan bar.

2) Georges Perrier at Crow and the Pitcher

The former Le Bec-Fin boss will join his former employees at their new bistro just south of the park to cook a seven-course dinner on three nights, from August 5-7. Seatings are available at 6 PM and 8:30 PM each evening, and you can go for the whole feast ($120) or chose a scaled-back four-course option ($60). Call 267-687-2608 to reserve.

3) National Oyster Day at Oyster House

On Tuesday, August 5, chef Brett Naylor is celebrating the Sansom Street restaurant’s namesake mollusk with a four-course menu available for $50 per person throughout the evening. Start with oysters on the half shell, move to grilled oysters, then fried oysters and finish with an oyster pan roast. Call 215-567-7683 to save your spot.

4) Hope Cohen Cookbook Dinner at Rouge

Local author Hope Cohen will join chef Sam Noh on Thursday, August 7, to present a four-course meal featuring recipes from Cohen’s latest: Fast, Fresh + Simple. The $80 price includes a signed copy of the cookbook, and wine pairings are available for $20 more. Call 215-732-6622 for reservations.
