Blackbird’s Alex Capasso Coming to Rittenhouse SquareBy Danya Henninger | November 13, 2013 By Danya Henninger | November 13, 2013
As early as 2008 there were rumblings that Alex Capasso was looking for a Center City spot, and now he’s finally found it. The Insider’s Michael Klein got word that the critically acclaimed chef will take over the 19th Street space formerly home to C19, which shut down just last month. It has the potential to be a prime location, just off Rittenhouse Square and across from Metropolitan Bakery, but for some reason, the cichetteria never took off.
Capasso has the chops to pull it off. After garnering a flurry of great reviews over the past six years for Blackbird Dining Establishment, the chef recently converted his successful Collingswood BYO into the much more casual Benny’s Burger Joint with the intention of landing a spot in Philadelphia proper. Now he has. Find out more details at Philly.com, and look forward to a January opening.
