Chhaya Launches Pie of the Day Service

Just in time for pie season (aka the holiday season, aka autumn - but really, we prefer to go with the first), Chhaya is launching daily pie service. Each day of the week, chef Varnana Beuria will prepare a different house-baked pie to serve at her petite East Passyunk cafe.

Available either whole ($20) or by the slice ($5), pies come in several varieties, including different fruits, pumpkin, Key lime, chocolate and more. We had the opportunity to sample the pecan pie and can report that Beuria does our longtime favorite dessert proud. The crust is flaky, the nuts are crunchy and the caramel filling is gooey and sweet. You could easily get away with pretending to have made it yourself - order by November 20 to score one in time for Thanksgiving (215-465-1000).
