Daily Digestif: Same-Day Booze Delivery, Free Cupcakes, Dogfish Beer Party
Your daily roundup of Philly food tidbits
• Same-day booze delivery to your home or office is now as easy as a few clicks. Instacart, a grocery delivery service that added Philly to its SF, DC, Chicago and Boston lineup last month, has finally won PLCB approval to bring wine and spirits to your door. Per, The Insider, groceries are marked up, but liquor prices seem comparable to the LCB’s own website. Wish we’d had this during the Polar Vortex!
• Once home to Daniel Stern’s acclaimed BYO Gayle (that veal stew!) and then Hoof + Fin, the restaurant space at 617 S. 3rd Street has been sitting empty for quite a while (except for that very brief interlude when Zen Nor gave it a go). Passyunk Post has the news that Karina’s - the Italian BYO recently moved from its original East Passyunk home to make way for Le Virtu sibling Brigantessa - will pop up there very soon.
• Free cupcake alert: the Rotunda at The Shops at Liberty Place will be giving away cupcakes daily at noon on Wednesday and Thursday. It’s part of the leadup to this year’s Let Them Eat Cake fondant contest and fundraiser, which takes place Monday, April 7 ($40 tickets here). The lunch freebies come from assorted competing bakers, and will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
• Make a reservation for Wednesday, March 26, at Standard Tap and you’ll score a free Dogfish Head IPA glass and ceramic coaster. All are welcome to head over at anytime to partake in A-Hop-Eclipse Now, a celebration showcasing nine different Dogfish IPAs, plus an IPA beer cocktail and plenty of IPA-friendly food. Hop bombs away.
