Tish Smith has been busy. Since launching a retail shop for Foam Floaterie ice creams and treats (she shares a storefront just off South with Cookie Confidential), the former Garces Group pastry chef has been dishing sweet action all over town.
The latest project Smith is excited about is her collaboration with Tela’s Market, the combination market-cafe-dining room coming to the east edge of Fairmount this fall. She’s been collaborating with chef-owner Chad Williams to make the desserts he served at two preview pop-up dinners at JG Domestic, and the market will stock Foam Floaterie ice creams and pastries when it opens (either late October or early November, according to our sources).
Sweets from Smith are also now found at Wash West cafe Toast, where she’s been named acting pastry chef. Look for brownies, blondies, macarons and biscotti plus three composed desserts available through late night (head there after a show at the theaters on Broad).
Tish’s ice cream is on the menu at Kennett in Queen Village, including a Moroccan mint tea and raspberry rose (made with farm-picked raspberries), and at Northern Liberties’ Jerry’s Bar - currently just vanilla, though she’s been chatting with chef Marshall Green about collaborating on new flavors. Also, if you happen to work in the Urban Outfitters headquarters at the Navy Yard, seek out Foam Floaterie pops and ice cream sandwiches in the cafe.
