Food Truck Spotlight: Milk & SugarBy Danya Henninger | September 30, 2013 By Danya Henninger | September 30, 2013
Over the weekend we ran into new truck Milk & Sugar and immediately fell for the unique flavors and great textures of the sweets. Brother and sister team Brittany and Brandon Maldonado - with their mother as a business partner - first hit the streets over the summer, and you can now find the blue and aqua vehicle regularly at 33rd and Arch, the Navy Yard and other food truck hot spots.
Baked fresh in South Philly and served in elegantly dressed-up boxes that you might be tempted to mistake for something from Tiffany’s, the cupcakes are nicely fluffy - we’re not fans of overly dense cakes - and topped with just enough icing.
The mini cookie atop the Oreo is a fun bonus, but even better in the flavor department is the seasonally appropriate pumpkin chocolate chip. Cupcakes are $3 each, and cookies - in flavors like maple bacon or s’mores - are $1.50 per piece. Keep up with Milk & Sugar on Twitter and look for the truck at Night Market Chinatown this Thursday.
