HubBub Coffee Opens in University CityBy Danya Henninger | October 21, 2013 By Danya Henninger | October 21, 2013
Drew Crockett got his start at Penn - first as a student and then as the operator of the HubBub Coffee truck, one of the city’s first modern mobile kitchens. Today marks a triumphant return home as he opens the doors at his second HubBub Coffee storefront at 3736 Spruce Street in the heart of the Penn campus.
Formerly Gia Pronto (which moved just up the block to 3716 Spruce), the space has been totally remodeled, with hand-laid herringbone wood floors, copper countertops and more than a handful of chairs and tables providing quite a bit of sip-and-study space.
Like the HubBub at 17th and Arch, the University City cafe will serve Stumptown coffee in espresso and pourover form as well as juices, teas and artisan sodas. Eats on offer include plenty of baked goods, bagels, parfaits and other sweets and snacks. Hours are 7 AM-9 PM, Monday-Thursday and 7 AM-6 PM, Friday-Sunday.
