Nathan Volz Departing 10 Arts
Nathan Volz, who succeeded Jen Carroll as chef at 10 Arts after her 2011 departure, is moving on. He’s moving up, too: a promotion is sending him to be executive sous chef for all food and beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Charlotte. The North Carolina hotel houses an outpost of BLT Steak, a dessert boutique called Bar Cocoa and a wine and Scotch tapas bar called Urban Sip.
Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia sales and marketing director Brad Pacana tells us no replacement chef has been chosen, as of yet, mostly because of the holiday rush. “We’re thrilled for Nathan, it’s a great opportunity for him,” Pacana says. “We’ve got lots of great people working here so we expect to name a new chef by the end of January or so.” In the meantime, Volz tells us 10 Arts food will be handled by current sous chefs Patrick McBrayer and Chad Gelso.
Thursday, December 12 will be the last day for Volz in Philadelphia, if you want to head over to say your farewells.
