Monday, August 11
Lolita, Jamonera, Little Nonna’s, Barbuzzo: Seafood Dinners
Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran are bringing the ocean to the city with a series of seafood-inspired dinners at each of their Midtown Village restaurants. On both Monday and Tuesday, you can order a $45 multi-course meal of fish and other water-dwellers. From lobster tostadas to lobster with spaghetti to a Mediterranean mixed grill, just choose your style. Bonus: each feast comes with a drink.

Rex 1516: George Sabatino Guest Chef Burger
The chef from forthcoming Aldine will be creating the special served from Justin Swain’s South Street West kitchen for one night only. Stay tuned to Swain’s Instagram to find out what it is, available with a pint of Newbold IPA and shot of Buffalo Trace for a total of $15.
Jet Wine Bar: BBQ Wine Tastings
There’s still time to host more backyard BBQs, and you don’t have to limit the libations to beer. Pick up a $25 ticket to the 6:30-8:30 PM class at Jill Weber’s South Street West wine bar (here) and explore the wines that go best with smoky, spicy meats.

Amis: Victory Beer Dinner
Brad Spence and sous chef Ned Maddock are hosting a four-course, four-beer pairing dinner at their 13th Street Italian dining room, all built around rare and unique brews from Victory. Look for fish ‘n’ chips with beer vinegar, pizza al taglio with Jersey corn, citra hop-braised beef shanks and even a beer cookie platter. Call 215-732-2647 for reservations.
Del Frisco’s: National Filet Mignon Day
In honor of this very important holiday, the 15th Street steakhouse is offering two special filet dishes. The filet mignon trio brings three 4-oz. steaks with different decadent toppings for $61, and the rarely-seen bone-in filet mignon will be available at $66 for the 16-oz. slab.

Night Market Lancaster Avenue
The August edition of The Food Trust’s street food bazaar lands in West Philly at Lancaster and 35th Street, taking over the boulevard from 6-10 PM with more than 75 food vendors plus beer from Yards. The West Philadelphia Orchestra will be playing brass band music and dancing in the streets is pretty much a given.
Pennsylvania 6: Blue Moon Acres Farm Dinner
Chef Marc Plessis collaborated with the Lyons family to create a special five-course feast featuring produce from their nearby farm at this Wash West dining room, starting with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 PM. The sit-down dinner follows at 7 PM, and seats are $65 per person (call 267-639-5606 to reserve).

Elixr: Affogato Day
This Center City coffee house is reprising the delicious combination that is espresso and ice cream for a day. And not just any ice cream, Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Two flavors will be available to enjoy scooped into a dish and drowned in hot, rich coffee liquid, one vegan and one dairy, for $4.50 each.

Cuba Libre: Rum Day
August 16 is National Rum Day, and on both Friday and Saturday nights, this Old City Cuban lounge is hosting a special 5-7 PM happy hour with half-priced pours of the entire collection of rum. There are also $12 mojito flight and ceviche flight specials, available throughout the month.
Greensgrow Farm: Shrimp Boil
Chefs Justin Swain of Rex 1516 and Carolynn Angle of Standard Tap are joining forces to cook up a seafood feast at this Kensington urban farm to help raise funds for the Greensgrow Community Kitchen. A $40 ticket (here) includes sustainably wild-caught Lousiana shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn, dirty rice, cobbler, Philadelphia Brewing beers and live Zydeco tunes from 5-9 PM. Vegetarian options will be available.
Doc Magrogan’s: Lobster Bake
Pick up a $40 ticket (here) to the 1-5 PM seafood extravaganza at Dave Magrogan’s University City spot and you’ll be benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project while you feast on a 1-lb. lobster plus lobster rolls, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, lobster ravioli and surf ‘n’ turf sliders. All the craft beer you care to drink is also included in the ticket price, making this a serious steal.

City Tap House: Crab Fest
Crack your way through all-you-can-eat blue crabs while listening to live music on the terrace at this West Philly taproom from noon-4 PM. Chef Chad Vetter is supplementing the seafood with corn on the cob and potatoes, and beer from Carton Brewing will be on special all afternoon. Tickets are $35; call 215-662-0105 to save your spot.
