On Tap: Industry Night, French Wine, Polar Bear Party
What fun awaits in Philly food and drink this week? We’re glad you asked.
Amis: Industry Night With Joe Cicala
Recently, the first Monday Vetri Family Industry Nights have taken place at Alla Spina, but on February 3 it’s back at Amis, with Joe Cicala of Le Virtu as the guest chef. From 10 PM-2 AM, show a food-biz pay stub to get access to the free buffet - we hear there will be lots and lots of offal (think tripe, heart, liver, sweetbreads). Also look for discounted cocktails and drinks to go along.
Fitler Dining Room: Savoy Wine Dinner
On Wednesday, chef Rob Marzinsky is hosting wine expert David McDuff for a four-course pairing dinner featuring the wines and cuisines of the Savoy region of the French Alps. The meal at the Fitler Square bistro runs $85 per person for food and drink, and two seatings are available, at 6 and 8:30 PM. Reservations are required.
Fabric Row: Kindred Spirits Happy Hour
Fourth Street between South and Christian is known as Fabric Row, and on Thursday between 6-8 PM, two shops are hosting a cocktails and shopping event. Head to vintage store Moon & Arrow and menswear boutique Armour to check out Valentine’s Day sales and enjoy bites and sips (Instagram your finds with #KindredSpirits for a discount), and then head to Ela for a special extended happy hour.
The Trestle Inn: Spirit of Thursday
On February 6, continue the biweekly series of brown spirits tastings at this upscale go-go bar on 13th Street. From 6-8 PM, Jefferson bourbon will be featured, and you can expect free samples and tastings and lots of liquor knowledge.
Iron Hill Media: Polar Bear Patio Party
Regardless of what temperatures this Friday brings, people in Media will be partying outside on this brewpub’s patio. From 5-9 PM, head brewer Bob Barrar is hosting an outdoor event to kick off a month featuring special firkins of beer. Head over for ice cream, an ice bar and several special and rare winter warmer beers designed to keep you warm.
Pizza Brain: Speed Dating
In conjunction with neighbors Little Baby’s Ice Cream, this Frankford Avenue shop is hosting an entirely free speed dating night on Friday. Show up from 9-10 PM to get matched up with dozens of possible dates while enjoying gratis pizza and ice cream, both of which rate highly on the “aphrodisiac-to-calorie ratio” (according to the hosts, that is). E-mail to register.
City Tap House: Tap Into a Cure
Drink Victory beer for a good cause on Friday, February 7, as this West Philly bar hosts a fundraiser for the Scleroderma Foundation. From 8-10 PM, $5 at the door will score you a bracelet good for drink specials including $2 Victory pints, $4 select local beers, $5 cocktails and $6 wines. There will also be a raffle for gift cards and other food and drink prizes.
