Monsu: Omakase Philly
Monday, May 12, brings the first in what is planned to be a series of meals built around non-mainstream dishes that chefs love to this Italian Market BYO. Chef Peter McAndrews will prepare four courses like tongue soup, tripe with meat sauce and grilled beef heart, served with amuse bouche and dessert for $50. Call for reservations (215-440-0495).
Sancho Pistola's: Fishtown Taco Exchange
Chef Adan Trinidad is hosting Time's Sean Magee at his Fishtown Mexican for a night of special tacos on Monday, May 12. Starting at 9 PM, look for guajillo chile côte de bœuf tacos served with a side of bone marrow (267-324-3530).
Citron and Rose: Italian Night
Kosher Italian? It's happening on Monday, May 12, at this Merion Station restaurant, when chef Karen Nicolas presents a special four-course prix fixe for $59 per person. A special list of Italian wines and cocktails will also be offered. Call for reservations (610-664-4919).
Vernick Food & Drink: Charity Cocktail Social
The finale of this traveling cocktail pop-up takes place at Vincent Stipo’s bar on Monday, May 12. Starting at 9 PM, bartenders from Lemon Hill, Franklin Mortgage and Lemon Hill will join in to serve $8 drinks with all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry.
Bar Ferdinand: Chris Kearse Collaboration Dinner
David Ansill continues his series of pop-up collabs on Tuesday, May 13, with chef Christopher Kearse of Will on East Passyunk. A $55, six-course menu includes goat’s milk gnocchi, ham-stuffed quail and pistachio torta. Call for reservations (215-923-1313).
Osteria: Mark Ladner Guest Chef Dinner
The next of Jeffrey Michaud’s “Culinary Culture Swaps” brings the chef of NYC’s Del Posto to North Broad street. Together, the chefs will prepare a four-course dinner of Italian fare from both Northern and Southern Italy. Seats for the 6:30 PM meal are $85 per person (215-763-0920).
La Calaca Feliz: Backyard BBQ
Wednesday, May 14, brings another outdoor party to the Fairmount cantina, and this month it’s a lamb that will be roasted on the back patio. A plate of lamb with corn esquites, lima beans and salsa verde will go for $29 per person. Reservations are accepted, or simply show up (215-787-9930).
Old City Night Market
The Food Trust’s nighttime street fest is back for another year with the kick-off event centered around Third and Arch in Old City. From 6-10 PM, more than 85 restaurants, bars and food trucks will serve food and drink to live funk and soul music in the open air.
The Trestle Inn: Spirit of Thursday
On Thursday, May 14, Art in the Age is the featured liquor producer for the complimentary tasting at this Loft District whiskey bar. Stop in between 6-8 PM to try gratis sips of cocktails in flavors like sage with honey lavender and Rhubarb with cherry lime.
