Rock ‘n’ Roll ‘n’ Food With Chef Jen Carroll

By Danya Henninger  |  November 6, 2013

Chefs are the new rock stars, no doubt about it, though rock ‘n’ roll is still plenty popular, too. The food and music worlds collide in a new event series that kicks off on Thursday, November 7 at Underground Arts. Top Chef alum Jen Carroll is no stranger to the spotlight, and she'll prepare a menu of unique snacks to be served while bands rock the stage at the Loft District space. The special event will benefit Philabundance.

A ticket to the show ($12 in advance, here; $15 at the door) gets you in at 8 PM, and you’ll find Carroll herself on the floor, offering pay-as-you-go food she’s whipped up in the huge on-site kitchen. Expect hand-held bites like striped bass tacos, duck nuggets and grilled pimento cheese sandwiches, all offered at easy-on-the-wallet prices.

On stage will be a handful of musicians and DJs who travel travel together and produce “Communion” club nights around the globe. In between snacking, take part in a dance-off contest judged by local food celebs including Fergus Carey (Monk’s Cafe, Fergie’s Pub, The Belgian Cafe) and Jeffrey Ziga (Little Baby’s Ice Cream).

The event is just the first of many collaborations between Cook, Audrey Claire Taichman’s kitchen-classroom, and Bonfire/Electric Factory Concerts, so stay tuned for more rock ‘n’ roll ‘n’ food coming in the months ahead.
