Taste Italian Bubbly at BuddakanBy Danya Henninger | August 13, 2013 By Danya Henninger | August 13, 2013
On August 14, Stephen Starr’s Buddakan is hosting a tasting of sparkling wines from Italy paired with bites from chef Hugh Moran. What is Italian wine doing at an Asian restaurant? The two cuisines have been linked since Marco Polo discovered spaghetti of course, but in recent years Italian vintners have been exporting more and more wine to Asia, especially given China’s growing middle class.
To sample the combination, make plans to be in Old City between 5-7 PM on Wednesday. Flights will feature a trio of Italian bubbly: La Marca Prosecco, Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut and Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut Rosé. Sit at the bar and for $25 you’ll get pours of each of the three along with complimentary snacks and more information on each vintage, should any of them strike your fancy. Walk-ins are welcome (215-574-9440).
