Top Job for Top Chef Stars: FatherhoodBy Danya Henninger | January 2, 2014 By Danya Henninger | January 2, 2014
In today’s Philadelphia City Paper, Adam Erace catches up with Top Chef alums Kevin Sbraga and Nicholas Elmi to discuss the most important part of their lives that takes place outside the kitchen: being fathers.
Sbraga credits his season-seven win with taking his career to a place where he’ll be able to put his kids through college (he now has two restaurants of his own, Sbraga and The Fat Ham). Elmi - who is still very much in the running of the current Top Chef season and just opened Laurel - describes the difficulty of having watched his daughter learn to walk and talk via texts and e-mails as he worked long hours under Georges Perrier's then-faltering Le Bec-Fin.
Whether or not you have children of your own, it’s a touching, endearing portrait of the people who cook some of the best restaurant food in the city. Click over to read.
