Where to Drink This Weekend: Bourbon & Branch

The Spot: Bourbon & Branch
The Gist: Before North Second Street was hip, Liberties was one of the only bars on the block. Last weekend the NoLibs original closed its doors after more than three decades to make room for this new drinkery and music venue from chef-owner Alex Carbonell.
Drink This: Whiskey is the thing here - more than 80 varieties are all available in 1-oz. pours which are priced $5-$9, ostensibly so you can sample a wide variety. If straight booze isn’t for you, go for one of the original cocktails like the Flaming Ricky made with lavender and black cardamom ($13) or chamomile-infused vodka with pear cider ($10).
The Scene: Hipster vibes have spread throughout the space (mason jar light fixtures, reclaimed wood) and the second floor has been turned into a performance stage, with live music already on the schedule for March. Stay tuned for the debut of “Burlesque Brunch” down the road.
